Geography at Sussex in top 12 in UK in latest QS Rankings
Top 50 in the world, top 12 in the UK
Sussex is one of the leading centres in the world to study Geography according to the latest QS World Rankings published in August. The rankings, which measure academic reputation, reputation amongst employers and citations of research publications, are designed to give future students an immediate understanding of which universities perform best across 29 different subjects worldwide.
Geography at Sussex celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2013, and has a strong international reputation for its work across a range of areas, including population and migration, climate change, globalisation and development, histories, cultures and networks, and applied geomorphology.
It is part of the School of Global Studies, which is introducing new ‘international work placements’ in 2012-13 to broaden student experience and improve graduates’ employment prospects. These 12-week placements are designed to include positions in small NGOs in developing countries as well as work experience in large international organisations and companies.
Head of Geography, Cherith Moses, says ‘this lovely news is a reflection of our enthusiasm for the subject and our sense of community in the department’
