Role

Senior Research Fellow - Cancer Research UK DNA Repair Enzymes Group

Laboratory Homepage: http://www.sussex.ac.uk/lifesci/oliverlab

The Cancer Research UK - DNA Repair Enzymes Group (PIs Dr. Antony Oliver and Prof. Laurence Pearl) principally uses the technique of X-ray Crystallography to investigate and understand the molecular mechanisms underpinning the process of DNA damage detection and repair in cells.  We complement this with a wide range of other experimental techniques, including Biophysics, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics. We have particular expertise in protein expression (in E.coli and insect cells) and purification, along with spectroscopic techniques (CD and fluorescence).

Lecturer

Final year module, Protein Form and Function - C7124
(Chromatography and Protein Purification)

Undergraduate Project Supervisor

Final year, laboratory and literature (critical review)-based projects

PhD Supervisor

Supervision of post-graduate students, undertaking research-based doctoral programmes
