Equality and Diversity Committee
The role of the Equality and Diversity Committee is to advise Council on the strategic direction for and governance of equality and diversity matters for the University in relation to staff, students and other stakeholders. The Committee will report to the Strategy and Resources Committee, on behalf of Council and shall submit an annual report to Senate and to Council.
The Equality and Diversity Committee will be under-pinned by the Equality and Diversity Forum
Terms of Reference
a) to consider and advise on matters of strategy and policy for the promotion of equality and diversity across the University
b) to govern the implementation of the University's policies, schemes and practices for the promotion of equality
c) to require information in relation to, and monitor, matters of statutory compliance
d) to receive reports from the Staff and Student Equality and Diversity Forum
Composition
The composition of the forum will be as follows:
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Chair)
One independent member of Council
One member of staff nominated by the trades unions
One student nominated by the students' union
PVC Education as a senior manager from the academic staff
One senior manager from the professional services nominated by the Registrar & Secretary
Director of Human Resources
In attendance: specialist advisers and other invited members from the University community, as required
