DL Physics or Chemistry

Distance Learning (DL) courses take you up to A level standard in your SKE specialist subject and, as they are funded by the Teaching Agency, are free to participants. DL students are also entitled to a tax-free bursary of £200 per week.

Taken over a three month period, DL courses comprise six separate modules. Five modules are conducted remotely with an optional tutor session per module. The sixth module is practical and is taken over a two week period at the University of Sussex in late June.

DL courses can be undertaken any time between 1st October 2012 and 30th August 2013.

Entry requirements

  • A good AS or A level grade in your SKE subject
  • A level Mathematics (or equivalent qualification level) for SKE Physics
  • A degree in a science - or science-related - subject
  • Ideally some experience of teaching science in school
  • Good independent learning skills
