Department of Education

SKE Classics (Latin)

This course is intended for graduates interested in teaching classical languages at secondary school level who need to develop their subject knowledge. It is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and, therefore, free to participants. Funding is dependent on your having been offered a conditional place on an ITE course. You will also be eligible to receive a £175 a week bursary from the date of enrolment until September.

Course Leader: Rowlie Darby

This SKE course is undertaken in two parts:

From April until September, learning is undertaken largely independently through blended learning materials in Latin. During this time, you will have the chance to familiarise yourself with the content and delivery of the KS3/4 Cambridge Latin Course.

Learning is enhanced by the Sussex Latin Summer School conference held at the University of Sussex in July 2021.

For more details see SKE Classics (Latin) 2021.
