Centre for Intellectual History

Research

New scholarly research is at the heart of SCIH's activities and the Centre is home to several major projects.

Together with The Centre for Dissenting Studies at Queen Mary, University of London, SCIH runs a major project on The Dissenting Academies in the British Isles, 1660-1860, that is funded by The Leverhulme Trust.

In 2010 we launched two new digital resources based on research into Étienne Dumont and James Mill.

In 2012 we launched the Thomas Paine Project.

We are also working on our own history, by building an electronic archive of material related to the teaching of Intellectual History at Sussex since the 1960s.
