The Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM) cluster produces research outputs of international standing by focussing upon the nexus between practitioners and academics so that clear solutions to real problems can be developed. We do this in both public and private sector operations and in profit and non-profit environments.
We strongly believe that working with industrial partners, accrediting bodies and emerging PhD scholars, informs our strategy and direction and ensures that our work and our teaching remains relevant to our stakeholders.

Our research falls into four distinct areas:
Outsourcing
With a specific focus upon Information Technology outsourcing and the issues surrounding such outsourcing. Our research also explores general issues exploring the viability of outsourcing agreements and the issues that often accompany outsourcing contracts.
Lean Processes
In both service and manufacturing environments. This is evident in the publication outputs of our researchers and our engagements in industry through Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs).
Supply Chain and Logistics Management
Exploring the impact that modularity is having upon the nature and scope of supply chains with particular emphasis upon the idea that modularity causes a shift of value creation amongst key suppliers throughout the supply chain. We also explore Logistics, service operations management, mass customisation, stochastic models for inventory and production, and knowledge management in supply chains and supply networks.
Systems Innovation
IT innovation and change management, Information Systems management and implementation in public services, business transformation and networks, Information Systems' assessment strategies, and educational evaluation and technologies.
