Visits to museums and galleries form an essential part of the MA in Art History and Museum Curating. In 2012-2013, students went to the V&A, Blythe House, the National Maritime Museum, the Science Museum, Ditchling Museum, Petworth House, Towner and the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery.
At Petworth students were given a tour of the house and the temporary exhibition 'Turner's Sussex' by Andrew Loukes, House and Collections Manager.
Blythe House acts as the store for the V&A and Science Museum, containing tens of thousands of objects held in the national collections. MA students were given privileged access, shown around by Glenn Benson, Blythe House site manager, and Shayne Rivers, V&A Conservation.
At the V&A, students were given a tour of the new Furniture Materials and Techniques Galleries by Keeper of Furniture, Textiles and Fashion, Christopher Wilk, and were shown prints which will be displayed in the V&A's new Europe 1600-1800 galleries by Liz Miller, Senior Curator of Prints.
