During the summer vacation 2012, Art History BA students Naomi Daw and Emoke Borbely-Soproni received Junior Research Associate Bursaries from the University’s Doctoral School. The bursaries were awarded as part of pioneering project which aims to develop future research leaders. It encourages talented and ambitious undergraduates to consider a career in research following graduation.
The scheme recognises academic excellence and drive by supporting our best undergraduates during the summer vacation as they work alongside Sussex’s top research faculty on real-life research projects. Naomi worked with Dr. Geoff Quilley to look at Art and Travel in the Pacific, 1788-1850, while Emoke worked with Professor Liz James on the composition of Byzantine glass mosaic tesserae.
