Sussex Centre for Byzantine Cultural History

The Sussex Centre for Byzantine Cultural History maintains a Byzantine and medieval presence at Sussex. It acts as a focal point for those interested in the history of the Mediterranean world in the Classical and medieval periods.

The Centre houses two important research resources: The database for the Composition of Byzantine Glass Mosaics and a Glossary of Mosaic Terms.

The Centre grew out of the AHRC Centre for Byzantine Cultural History, a collaboration between the Queen's University of Belfast and the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

E2,000,000 Grant awarded to Centre co-director - see our news page.
