Finalists' Conference, May 2011

The inaugural American Studies finalists' conference held on 4 May was a genuinely rewarding event for everyone who attended and participated. Final-year students delivered short papers on a wide range of compelling topics in American history, literature and culture and answered probing questions from the audience with admirable confidence and conviction. The conference assisted development of key transferable skills and significantly enhanced the quality of finalists' dissertations. It is hoped that this event will be embedded in the curriculum from 2011-12.
