2015 Partnership Tutor Fund

Flora Dennis, Partnership Tutor West Dean College

'As a result of the Partnership Tutor fund, we were able to organise an exchange day at West Dean College for MA Conservation Students at West Dean and MA Art History and MA Museum Curating students at the University of Sussex. The day was based on West Dean's collections and prepared students to move beyond postgraduate study into a range of professional workplaces such as museums, galleries, historic buildings and the cultural and heritage sector.

Focusing on specific objects, MA Museum Curating and MA Conservation students spent the morning mall groups debating the potential interpretation and ongoing care of these objects, identifying any special environmental requirements or restrictions, and highlighting areas for future research. In the afternoon, the groups presented their findings to each other and the day concluded with a general discussion including West Dean and Sussex tutors.'
