Research projects

Specific areas of interest for future research will include:

  • The nature of the biological, psychological and social mechanisms through which separation and loss, maltreatment and trauma impact upon the family and wider social relationships of adopted children, and affect placement outcomes.
  • The efficacy of existing preventive and remedial psychological and social interventions and their effectiveness in practice in varying education, health and family and social contexts.
  • The development and implementation of new and innovative interventions in support of adoptive family life in collaboration internationally and locally with research institutions, adoption agencies and children and parents themselves.
