The Suss-Ex Club

The Suss-Ex Club is an association for former staff of the University of Sussex. The Club organises a range of activities, depending on what members would like and volunteer to run, as well as looking out for the concerns of retired people around the university. A number of activities have taken place, and others are planned - further suggestions welcome. Details are circulated in the members' newsletter - see below.

Newsletter 14 is being circulated. Book by 19 February for The Seagull on 11 March and/or Brighton Boozers (stroll) on 21 March; express interest for Carousel or the de la Warr Pavilion! Word version here for anyone who wants to complete either form online; PDF version below.

The Club is open to all former staff, whatever their jobs were, including both those who left for other employment and those who retired. The "part-retired" are welcome to join. Members' partners are welcome to attend activities. At some stage there may be an annual subscription, to be decided.

Many colleagues who might like to join the Club have unfortunately not yet been contacted, owing to the inadequacies of the available lists. If you are Sussex ex-staff but have not been contacted, please give your contact details to the Development and Alumni Relations Office, using the form below if convenient.

The Club does not have a formal structure, but is for the time being organised by a moderately representative but not at all democratic Steering Group, chaired by our former VC Sir Gordon Conway. Once coverage of the possible membership seems nearer to complete, it is hoped to agree a more formal long-term structure. The Club is grateful for organisational assistance being provided meanwhile by the University's Development and Alumni Relations Office.
