Sussex 2025

Influential voice in the sector and region

The University continued to be an influential voice in the sector and wider society, contributing to regional, national and international discussions and sharing expertise.

Across the year, the University was mentioned in 13,000 pieces of media coverage (37 items per day).

Colleagues met with parliamentarians including local MPs, Peers and Sussex Forum members and held several meetings with the Universities Minister and Skills and Apprenticeship Minister.

We sponsored and were heavily represented on the All Party Parliamentary Group for Woman and Work, sharing steps we are taking in pursuit of our Inclusive Sussex strategy.

We continued to contribute to key regional planning and decision-making.

We were represented on Brighton & Hove City Management board, Coast to Capital LEP, South East LEP, Team East Sussex (led by East Sussex County Council) and Culture East Sussex (comprising regional local authorities and cultural institutions).

We continued to play a leading role in major economic and creative industries forums, including the Arts and Creative Industries Commission, Chamber of Commerce and the Better Brighton & Hove think tank.
