Distinguished Service Award for Sussex sociologist

Jennifer Platt, Emeritus Professor of Sociology, has become the first recipient of the British Sociological Association’s award for Distinguished Service to British Sociology.
The award marks “an extraordinary life lived as a sociologist who has served the discipline in the UK”.
Professor Platt received the award from the Association’s president during the BSA’s annual conference, held at the University of Leeds from 11-13 April.
As award holder, Professor Platt will deliver a public lecture at the BSA’s next presidential event in October.
