MINOS (Main Injector Neutrino Oscillation Search) is and experiment using the NuMI beam line at Fermilab. It is made up of two detectors the Near Detector which is situated 1km from the beam at Fermilab in Illinois and the Far Detector 735km away in the Soudan Mine in Minnesota. We measure the neutrino spectrum at the Near Detector and compare to the spectrum at the Far Detector. The differences in the spectrum will tells us fundamental quantities of neutrinos the difference in mass and the mixing angle for mass states 2 and 3.
I am looking at neutrino induced coherent pion production in the Near detector.
