Public Law and Human Rights

The Public Law and Human Rights RDT aims to meet twice a term. Our focus in on writing process, strategy and sharing feedback from the review process.

The SPR 1819 sessions aim to focus more heavily on REF and look towards summer/ study leave writing.

Meeting 1

Are we 'REF ready'? Reading and rating our pieces, Weds 27 March, 4-5pm FRE-F22

A discussion about our current REF pieces, submissions to RDT and how/whether the process is helpful. We will be reading two pieces of work from within the team that have been internally rated (having gone through the RDT/ REF reading process). We will also discuss the new REF guidelines, and or collective strategy as discussed by Tarik in the recent Department Meeting.

Meeting 2

Short Books – Why Write Them? (Week 11/12)

This session will consider the process and value of writing short books. We hope to hear from Tarik on the REF position on short books and from colleagues considering writing a short book on their rationale/ narrative development. Colin Perrin, editor at Routledge (and of the short book series ‘New Trajectories in Law’) has offered to be a point of contact for anyone interested in discussing contributing to the series (Bal to provide more details).

Meeting 3

How to make the most of Study Leave (June 2019)

For those going on study leave in AUR 19-20 and those considering applying, an opportunity to hear from people on ‘tips’ for study leave (eg value of writing retreats). This sessions should also be helpful for ‘summer writing’ ideas and tips. Details to follow.
