Interlibrary requests
The Interlibrary Requests service exists to support your research activities related to your role at the University, by obtaining material not held in the University Library.
New online requesting for desktop delivery
Our newly designed request forms allow online requesting, as well as electronic delivery to your Sussex email account. If you have requested a book, we will offer access to an ebook where available or alternatively a print copy will be sourced from another library. For journal article requests, we can provide desktop delivery for items supplied by the British Library.
Placing a Request
- Please check the Library Catalogue and the Electronic Library to ensure that the item you require is not already in stock or available electronically before requesting.
- Select either the Loan Request form for a book, journal issue or conference proceedings or the Article Request form for a journal article, conference paper or book chapter. Login using your IT Services username and password.
- Provide the full bibliographic details for the item you are requesting, as this will speed up your request.
- For Article Requests, select delivery method from the drop-down list. The default is set to 'Send to my email account'. Where desktop delivery is not possible, we will provide a paper copy for collection from the Info Hub in the Library.
- For Article Requests, please read and agree to the terms of the copyright declaration by ticking the check box.
- Submit your request.
- Either click on 'Make another request' or Logout from the main menu options.
Interlibrary Request Limits:
- Undergraduates - 20 requests for each academic year
- Postgraduates - 100 requests for each academic year
- Staff - 100 requests for each academic year
- Faculty - 100 requests for each academic year
Additionally, the Library has revised the support it gives to groups of researchers carrying out externally funded Systematic Reviews. Please contact the Research Support team if you think this may apply to you.
Please note there is a £2 handling charge on Interlibrary Requests obtained from another library or if items are subsequently found to be in stock or available through the Electronic Library.
