Biography

PhD Applied Linguistics (Southampton), MA Applied Linguistics (Southampton), BA English (Birmingham), BA Music (Southampton); PGCE (Birmingham), Dip RSA TEFLA (Birmingham City), PGCertHE (Sussex).

Simon is the convenor for the Pre-Masters in EAP programme and is involved with supervising Doctoral research students in the area of ELT.  He has extensive experience in teaching English for Academic Purposes and Applied Linguistics, both overseas (Finalnd, Sweden and Germany), and at a number of UK universities, including UCL, Imperial College and the University of Surrey. 

Simon is a contributor to the BBC Learning English programmes on Academic Listening, available online.  He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  

 

Community and Business

Simon stood as a Green Party candidate in the UK local elections in May 2013.  He is a Trustee for AMEND (the Association for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders), and a member of St Mary de Haura, New Shoreham, Parochial Church Council.
