International Summer School

2017 Student Ambassador Scheme

What is the Student Ambassador Scheme?

Each year, we select a team of highly motivated and enthusiastic student volunteers to act as ambassadors for the ISS when they return to their home institutions after studying with us over the summer.

Student Ambassadors recruit on our behalf by returning home and presenting their own personal experience of studying at the ISS to future students from their home institutions. They act as a point of contact for future students, answering or redirecting queries, and they also represent the ISS at Study Abroad Fairs.

Why should I apply?

For the following reasons:

  • You will gain invaluable experience from being a Student Ambassador and you can use this on your resumé.
  • We can give you a reference from the University of Sussex to help you in your future career prospects or in your application to graduate school.
  • You will receive a specially designed 2016 Student Ambassador T-shirt.

Aside from these reasons, being a Student Ambassador is also a great way for you to share your personal experiences with other people and to keep in touch with the ISS team after the summer.

After returning to your home institution, you would need to:

  • Introduce yourself to your Study Abroad Office as a Student Ambassador and offer to be available as a point of contact for future students.
  • Arrange one or two information sessions for future students - perform a presentation where you talk about your personal experience of studying at the ISS over the summer.
  • Find out if your home institution will be hosting a Study Abroad Fair and offer to represent the ISS at the fair.
  • Keep the ISS team informed by sending regular feedback on your progress and updates on any relevant Study Abroad fairs or events.

We are looking for highly motivated and proactive students - it will be your responsibility to get the most out of this opportunity, but the ISS team will also be here to support you along the way.

I'm in! How do I apply?

Fill in the application form and submit it along with a high quality photo of yourself to our Intern, Regina Carrell, who will coordinate the applications.
