Teaching is at the heart of the University, and teaching and learning methods in Informatics are constantly being reviewed and refined. Much teaching is still based on the traditional lecture, seminar and laboratory class, but there is increasing use of more innovative methods, often in the exercise class slot used by many courses. Problem-solving sessions, computer-based learning, video conferencing, student presentations, talks and discussions with external speakers all support a student-centred learning experience. Interaction is central to the teaching approach.
Teaching is vigorously supported by a range of information and computing resources, and by the people who are there to assist if things get rough - and not forgetting the incentive provided by prizes and the thought of a good job when you leave!
