Biography
Anu Koskela was born and grew up in Finland. She gained a BA (Hons) in Linguistics from the University of Sussex in 2001 and a DPhil in Linguistics in 2007 (also from Sussex), under the supervision of M. Lynne Murphy and Vyv Evans.Role
Teaching Fellow in Linguistics and English LanguageResearch
Anu Koskela's research is concerned with lexical semantics (word meaning), particularly from a cognitive linguistic perspective. Her main research interest is variation in category inclusiveness and the phenomenon of vertical polysemy or autohyponymy.Teaching
In Spring 2010, Anu is teaching the Level 3 course Cognitive Linguistics and the Level 1 course Language and Style (together with Barbara Allen). She also supervises final year Research Projects.
Her office hours are on Mondays 10.00-11.00 and Thursdays 11.00-11.50, in Arts B216. Outside these times she is available by appointment - please email to fix a time.
