Edinburgh Fringe performance of 'Contractions' by Mike Bartlett being put on by second year Sussex Students in SUDS.
The play is set purely in the office of a character artificially named
"Manager". The play consists of fourteen encounters between the
confoundingly one-dimensional Manager, and Emma, her employee. The play,
whilst beginning as an awkward jostle of power between the robotic Manager
and the fiery Emma, soon develops into an absurdist display of modern
working life and bureaucratic regime. Ultimately 'Contractions' is both
political and crudely tragic.
