Click and Study Update

Click and Study update

The Library is looking forward to welcoming both new and returning students and staff. Not surprisingly, there have been many changes as we have had to adapt our services and our building in response to the current pandemic.

We have launched a new booking system for our Click and Study service.

Study space booking

Click and Study is available for all University of Sussex students and staff. It enables you to book a socially distanced study space in the Library and in student computer rooms around campus. Some other parts of campus are being designated as study spaces and will be added to the booking system.

The bookable study spaces are for individual, quiet study and have been arranged to create a safe study environment for you.

There are many different types of study space available for booking. To help you to find the space that best suits your needs, we have created a range of seating categories such as ‘Desk with electrical supply’, ‘Desk with PC’ and ‘High desk with Mac computer’.

Each bookable study session is for up to 2 hours and you can book a maximum of 5 sessions per week. Sessions can be booked 2 weeks in advance. Our intention is to enable as many students as possible to study in their building of choice. We will therefore regularly review the parameters that we’ve set on the booking system.

Once you have booked your session you can arrive any time within your two hour slot. Just remember to check in and out.

When you arrive at your booked study space, it is important to check in using the QR code on the desk or the link in your confirmation email. If you don’t check in, you’ll appear as a 'no-show', which will hinder you with making further bookings.

You will only be able to sit at the specific desk that you have booked and will not be able to move to another empty desk should one be free. We have provided cleaning materials for you to sanitize your desk before use. Social distancing is in place throughout these spaces and we ask you to wear a face covering at all times, unless you are exempt.

Click and Collect

If you have booked a study space in the Library, you will also have access to the bookshelves. However, you may find it more convenient to use the Click and Collect service so that the books you need are ready for you when you arrive.

If you haven’t already used it, the Click and Collect service was set up to enable you to borrow books and other items from the Library whilst access is restricted.

Please use Library Search to locate the item you require. If it is showing as available, request the item by logging in and then clicking ‘Request’. You will receive an email giving you collection instructions. Once you have received the confirmation email, you will be able to collect the requested items between 8am-11pm, Monday to Friday and 10am-5pm, Saturday to Sunday.

You will need to bring your University ID card to collect the items that you have requested.
