The University of Sussex Business School has made a series of improvements suggested by students in surveys and face-to-face feedback.

Better access to academic support, more study and community spaces, increased help with finding work placements, more study trips abroad, access to business mentors, through to creating a student kitchen all topped the list of Business School student suggestions.

Susan Smith, Associate Dean for Education and Students at the Business School, said:

“We take our student feedback seriously, making every effort to address concerns and improve the student experience based on what students are telling us.

“This year, we’ve introduced a student Community Hub in our Jubilee building, where students can get advice, study, and socialise. At the start of this autumn term, we re-organised our student academic support service, ensuring that all students have access to individual academic advice sessions with trained advisors. We have also responded to requests to make our teaching materials, tools and guidance more accessible.

“Study abroad trips, work placement year options and business mentoring are popular with students, so we’ve enhanced the support we provide to those who want to make the most of these opportunities. We really want students to flourish when they study with us, so their feedback is important. I’d encourage everyone to take part in the relevant surveys when they receive their email invitation.”

Business School students can take part in the following annual online surveys to provide feedback:

• The Student Barometer Survey runs from 4 November to 8 December 2019, and is open to all foundation year, undergraduates (except finalists) and postgraduate students.

• Final year undergraduates are invited to take part in the National Student Survey, which runs from January to April 2020.
