Young Finance Scholars Conference

9-6-2016

Main theme

The main theme for this year’s event is Entrepreneurial Finance in a New Funding Landscape.

Apparent unwillingness of banks to lend to both smaller private enterprises (SMEs) and larger public firms are very much at the forefront of European governments concerns. The reluctance to lend is a manifestation of the phenomena of ‘de-leveraging’ and changes to bank regulations in the post-crisis period.

Low interest rates and the banks’ reluctance to lend resulted in an unprecedented growth of European corporate bond market. At the same time, new technologies (FinTech) facilitated innovative funding alternatives competing with traditional methods in the delivery of financial services.

Above described developments call for more in-depth analysis of financing strategies for entrepreneurs and new ventures. We particularly encourage submissions in the following areas:

  • Crowdfunding and FinTech
  • Buyouts
  • Bank Lending to SMEs
  • SMEs and Family Firms
  • Venture Capital and Business Angels
  • Private Equity
  • IPOs and other exits
  • Corporate Bonds.

Conference submissions are also encouraged in other areas of:

  • Corporate Finance
  • Quantitative Finance
  • Banking
  • Corporate Governance.
