Regional Development Office

The Regional Development Team is the main contact point for business, public sector and other organisations wishing to engage with the University. The team provides specialist advice and access to University expertise and facilities and actively supports and manages client relationships. The team is also able to support University staff in their work with external organisations. In addition to managing several European Interreg programmes, the team is also responsible for developing Enterprise and Entrepreneurship activity for students across the University. In addition the Team manages Knowledge Transfer Partnership programmes, and the Shell STEP Scheme.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Principle point of contact for business and other organisations
  • Representing the University, creating strategic links and support for key business, clusters, sector organisations, local and regional government, and regional agencies.
  • Developing University Enterprise strategy and extra-curricular activity for students - For example strong links to ilumus student enterprise society
  • Collaboration the Sussex Innovation Centre to support Knowledge Transfer activity and business development and incubation.
  • Specialist support for University colleagues to develop connections with business and external organisations
  • Development and implementation of the University's Regional Strategy.
  • Event management and support hosting delegations
  • Development of links to professional organisations and institutions
  • Representation and management of several European Union Interreg programmes for the University.
  • Managing Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)
  • Managing Shell STEP programme for the University
