Statistics

If you need statistics for your research, try the Library's Statistics and Datasets page

You will find links to key sources of statistics such as UK National Statistics and Census.ac.uk, as well as international data resources such as OECD statistics.

Online databases

Online databases are searchable collections of journal articles and other information resources. Bibliographic databases contain references to articles in journals or books. They often include a summary or abstrac as well. Full text databases give access to whole articles. Increasingly, databases contain a mixture of bibliographic and full text information.

The Library subscribes to a number of online databases which can be accessed via the Electronic Library.

Film and Image databases

ARTstor is a digital library with a vast collection of images in the arts, architecture, humanities and sciences.

Film and Sound Online is a set of collections of film, video and sound material. The materials can be downloaded and used for educational purposes.

Box of Broadcasts (BoB) allows you to record, watch and make clips from television and radio programmes. You can keep programmes you have recorded in your "My BoB" archive to watch again in the future.

Reports

Reports can be defined as material that has not been published in the conventional way (i.e. presented formally in an academic journal or appearing in a publisher's list). This body of material is often known as 'grey literature' and may include internal reports, papers written within a research group or government body and consultants' reports. Increasingly, reports are being made available online.

Government and official publications

The Library holds a large collection of official publications and other material relevant to public policy from British, European and Inter-governmental bodies. This includes access to parliamentary papers dating back to the 1600s.
