I am unable to send emails with Outlook. It tells me "None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient."

Symptom:   Outlook starts rejecting your attempts to send messages, and you see rejection messages like this example:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: Meeting with Ann Other

Sent: 20/01/2014 11:37

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: 'ano23@sussex.ac.uk' on 20/01/2014 11:37

None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient.

This symptom indicates that Outlook's autocomplete cache (which is used to suggest addresses in the To:, Cc: and Bcc: boxes when you are composing an email) is corrupted.

Try clearing your autocomplete cache as follows:

  1. In Outlook 2010, click the File menu tab and then click on Options in the list on the left.
  2. Click the Mail option in the left-hand column of the Outlook Options window.
  3. Scroll down to the Send Messages section
  4. Click the Empty Auto-Complete List button.

Outlook will then generate a new autocomplete cache, and you should then be able to send emails again.
