Questions and answers

The appearance of Outlook Web App has changed when I login to webmail.

If you use Outlook Web App on a PC with Windows 7 or Windows 8, you may have noticed a change to the format due to a recent update. A change in Internet Explorer 11 means that users of OWA are presented with a different version of the interface (known as OWA Light).

To fix this and return to the normal version:

  1. In Internet Explorer, click on the Tools button (it looks like a cogwheel) at the top right:

    Internet Explorer Tools cog

  2. Choose Compatibility View settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. In Add this website, enter:
  4. Click on Add.
You may find that the added website will appear only as, but that's normal.
  5. Click Close to close the window.

If you're already logged in to OWA, you will have to log out and log back in and you should then see the familiar layout of the full version of OWA.
