Can I spellcheck my emails in OWA?

If you are using Internet Explorer 7 or later, the spell checker in the Outlook Web App (OWA) is switched on automatically and you can change the settings:

  1. From the Options menu (top right), choose See All Options.
  2. Click on Settings and then Spelling.

The spelling option is not available if you're using a different web browser such as Firefox or Chrome. Because those browsers have their own built-in spell-checking facilities, the designers of OWA seem to have assumed that most users will want to use those instead.

The spell check in Chrome is enabled as standard but Firefox users will need to install an appropriate dictionary to use the function:
