There are no changes in the 22/23 Canvas template from the 21/22 template, but your module might still using the 20/21 Education template. If so, there are a few things that you can change without having to start afresh with the new template. This guide will show you how.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion:

On this module we welcome and value our diverse students. We endeavour to make this module an inclusive space to think and learn and embed this notion in our teaching, resources, reading list and communications.   It is essential that we inform, educate, and involve all members of the course in a collective effort to achieve our shared goals of fairness and inclusivity. We intend that by doing so this contributes to broader changes such as eliminating the BAME Awarding Gap.

If you have any specific needs, questions or suggestions relating to the module including around disabilities, identities, equalities, mental or physical health, please get in touch with the module or course leader to talk about these so we can work together to make any necessary adjustments as possible. We are always learning so if you experience any aspect of the module as inaccessible or otherwise problematic in terms of your need please also get in touch with us.

Further information can be found via the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion unit and the Student Life Centre.

3.   Module information page:

Move the Communication section under the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion section

4.   Module information page:

Make sure a communication statement has been included defining the relevant channels of communication, the different purposes for use and which sets out clear response times. If you intend  to use the Canvas Discussion or Chat feature please ensure you make it available from the module navigation (in Settings)

Modules should include a facility for students to raise questions and for answers to be provided.  This may be achieved through the use of a Canvas Discussion, Padlet or scheduled use of the Canvas Chat facility.  The purpose of the space should be made clear and should be actively monitored.

Info for opportunities for student input and feedback should also be included here.

5. Assignments and guidance page:

Under Feedback include the following section:

Sits and resits

[Information about resit modes and instructions to be added here]

6. Assignments and guidance page:

Under Sits and resits include the following section:

Word Limits

When writing your coursework, please pay attention to the maximum word limits that have been set for the assignment, as shown in your assessment deadlines timetable in Sussex Direct. This is particularly important for relatively short pieces of work where one of the skills is to write clearly but briefly.

If you use more words than the word limit and the marker feels that you have gained a clear and unfair advantage, you will lose marks for your work. This means that your work should not be longer than the word limit if you want to avoid a penalty.

The limits as stated include quotations in the text, but do not include the bibliography, footnotes/endnotes, appendices, abstracts, maps, illustrations, transcriptions of linguistic data, or tabulations of numerical or linguistic data and their captions.

7. Assignments and guidance page:

Update the plagiarism section to:
