Business School Template
Deciding your module status
There are three potential routes for the application of your School template to your module, read the definitions below and decide which status applies to your module, then follow the appropriate guidance. If you are unsure which status applies to your module then please contact tel@sussex.ac.uk.
Course-level sites (e.g. Business and Management Studies BSc) have been created for each Course and Course Directors can add their content.
New module
A new module is a Canvas module that has not previously been run and had no prior Canvas module site.
If you are the convenor of a new module that has not previously been run and has no prior Canvas module site then you will need to:
- Import the 22/23 Business School template from Commons.
- Set the home page
- Edit the Pages. The Business School template includes pages with general information and weekly topic pages. Each page in the template will need to have content added where indicated.
- Edit the weekly topic headings on the Home Page.
- Continue to steps 2-5 on the Canvas Module Set Up page.
Existing module without template
A previously run module that did not have a school approved template applied to it in past years
If you are the convenor of a module that has been run before, but that did not incorporate the Business 21/22 template then you will need to:
- Import the 22/23 Business School template from Commons.
- Set the home page
- Import the content from the previous year’s Canvas module (if required).See the Business School - importing selected content guide for step-by-step instructions for doing this.
- Incorporate the imported content into the template pages where indicated, copying and pasting from the imported pages as required.
- Edit the weekly topic headings on Home Page.
- Continue to steps 2-5 on the Canvas Module Set Up page.
Existing module with last year's template
A previously run module which had a school approved template applied to it in the past academic year (21/22). (If you have a module with an older template please contact TEL@sussex.ac.uk for advice. You will probably need to follow the steps for Existing module without template.)
If you are the convenor of a module which ran in 2021/22 using the latest Business School template these steps will guide you through setting up your new site. If your module previously used an older template please contact TEL@sussex.ac.uk for advice. You will probably need to follow the steps for Existing module without template.)
- Import the content from the previous year’s Canvas module. See Business School - Importing selected content
- Set the home page.
- Continue to steps 2-5 on the Canvas Module Set Up page.
