Santander Scholarship

Santander, through Santander Universities, works to encourage international exchange, to facilitate access to university, to promote specialist research and education through scholarships and grants.

Santander Universities are focussing on three key areas: Education, Employability and Entrepreneurship, and are concentrating their support on students, particularly those from a widening participation background.

This year we will be able to offer up to 16 Santander Scholarship awards up to the value of £1,250. The value of the award received will depend on which Summer School you are applying to and it will cover the tuition fees and your flight. You will therefore still need to cover your accommodation and living costs and a visa (should you need one).

Who can apply?

Any first or second year University of Sussex Business School students can apply to one of the summer schools listed below. However, priority will be given to students from a Widening Participation background. For clarity, for this application Widening Participation criteria includes:

  • BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic);
  • Care Leavers;
  • Children from Military Families;
  • Estranged students
  • Forced Migrants / Refugees;
  • Mature students (over the age of 21 in the first year of study);
  • Students with a disability;
  • Young Carers.

What does the award include?

The award is a non-repayable grant of up to a maximum of £1,250. The amount successful applicants receive will be dependent on the destination, but will cover your tuition fee and the flight. Students applying to partner universities with lower tuition fees will receive a lower amount of funding.

Please bear in mind that the tuition fees and living costs at some summer schools are cheaper than others and that the funding we can offer may cover the majority of your costs if you choose carefully.You will therefore need to ensure you research the costs of accommodation and living expenses as these will be costs which you will cover yourself.

How to apply?

Once you have submitted your Summer School application form, you may apply for the scholarship via the Santander BECAS portal and completing a short application form. To do this, please follow this link - Santander Scholarship Application
