Changes to parking from September 2018

The number of parking spaces for carers will be increased from 2018-19, as part of a series of changes to parking on campus for the next academic year.

From 2018-19, students with particular needs will be able to park on campus at discounted rates.

Students who do not fit into any of the exceptional categories can choose to buy a full-price annual permit (costing £360 for the year) to park in the Bridge car park. This is located on the other side of the A27 from campus, by the football club.

Student parking on campus or at the Bridge car park will be by annual permit only; students will no longer be able to park on a daily basis using scratch cards.

All staff will be eligible to park on campus, providing they have registered a vehicle with the Transport team and have purchased an annual permit or a pass to park.

Simon Neale, Director of Estates and Facilities Management, says: “We’re making changes in order to improve the challenging parking situation on campus and to actively promote sustainable travel.

“These changes take into account feedback from consultation with students, staff and the Students’ Union, as well as research findings by our travel consultants.”

The University will shortly be introducing a liftshare scheme for students and staff; look out for more details coming soon.

And don’t forget to check out the online information about sustainable transport to and from campus - whether by bus, train or bicycle, or on foot.
