The team can provide official letters, official transcripts, replacement certificates for former students.

If you have completed your studies you may find the FAQ information below useful:

I have recently completed my studies when will I receive my graduation certificate and transcript?

Undergraduate finalist information

All finalists who have completed their degree will receive a single copy of their transcript with their degree certificate.

It is not possible to collect or post these documents in advance of the ceremony.

If you do not attend the ceremony the SSRO office will only hold your certificate for a period of two years before being destroyed. Should you contact us after this point there will be a charge to provide you with a replacement copy of your degree.

Postgraduate finalist information

All finalists who have completed their degree will receive a single copy of their transcript (taught courses only) with their degree certificate.

Students who do not wish to wait for their ceremony will have the opportunity to receive their documents sooner and will be emailed instructions by the Student Systems and records Office (this usually happens in April/November after the examination boards have met).

If you do not attend the ceremony the SSRO office will only hold your certificate for a period of two years before being destroyed. Should you contact us after this point there will be a charge to provide you with a replacement copy of your degree.

I have completed my studies and did not receive my certificate at the graduation ceremony, how do I arrange for this to now be sent out to me?

If the graduation ceremony was less than two years ago we will still hold a copy of your certificate in the Student Systems and Records Office. In order for us to post this out to you please send an email to student.archives@sussex.ac.uk with your full name, date of birth and the name of the programme/course that you studied along with your current postal address and we will arrange for you documents to be sent out to you.

The address that you provide must be an address that you/family member can sign for the documents in person, we do not send degree certificates to third party address(es) e.g. we cannot send documents to an institution/organisation to which you are applying for further studies

Should you contact us after this point there will be a £30 pounds charge (plus £35 courier fee to an overseas address) to provide you with a copy of your original degree certificate.

Further guidance notes regarding replacement certificates can be found here.

Can I get more than one copy of your degree certificate?

If you still hold your degree certificate we can provide a certified copy of the original free of charge, please email a scanned a pdf copy to student.archives@sussex.ac.uk

Does the University provide an equivalence service?

We are sorry but the university does not offer an equivalence service.

In the US, students are assigned a cumulative grade point average, usually on a 4.0 scale, for all courses taken throughout their course of study. There is no official direct conversion between UK marks and a US GPA.

Some universities may ask that you have your qualifications assessed by a credential evaluator before submitting your application.

You may wish to consult either of the below:

National Assistance Centre (NARIC) at www.naric.org.uk/naric/

National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) at www.naces.org

Does the University legalise documents/Apostille documents?

We are sorry but the University of Sussex does not notarize documents or provide an Apostille service.

Information on Apostille can be found on www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised
