Biography

Susan Millns holds postgraduate degrees from the University of Kent (D.Phil.), the University of Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) (Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies; Droit Public Comparé des Etats Européens) and the European University Institute, Florence (LL.M. International, European and Comparative Law).  She taught previously at the University of Liverpool (1991-97)  and the University of Kent (1997-2006) before taking up a Chair in Law at Sussex.  She has held visiting fellowships at the European University Institute (Florence) from 2000-01 as a Jean Monnet Fellow and from 2002-04 as a Marie Curie Fellow in the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies.  She is also a visiting professor at the Université Paris Descartes. 

Role

Susan Millns is Professor of Law in the Sussex Law School and currently the Interim Head of the School of Law, Politics and Sociology (http://www.sussex.ac.uk/lps).

Community and Business

Professor Millns is working with a number of organisations, including the Equality and Diversity Forum and New Europeans, to promote the rights of women, sexual minorities and citizens in Europe. This work is particularly linked to her research on the impact of Brexit on UK equality law, human rights law and EU citizens' rights.
