What our graduates do

Each year the Careers and Employability Centre has researched what Sussex graduates and postgraduates do six months after graduating, as part of the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey. 

2017 Overview
  • 96% of first degree leavers were in work, work and study or further study (96% in 2016)
  • 83% of employed UK first degree leavers were in graduate level work or were engaged in further study (82% in 2016)
  • 59% of UK first degree leavers were in work (58% in 2016)
  • 30% of UK first degree leavers were primarily in further study/training (30% in 2016)
  • 4% of first degree leavers were unemployed (4% in 2016)

SIC2007 results shows that the top 3 industries employing University of Sussex leavers were Human Health & Social work; Professional, Scientific and Technical activities; Information and Communication.

This is the final DLHE survey. Anyone graduating after August 2017 will be asked to complete the Graduate Outcomes survey, 15 months after completing their studies.
