Selection tests

Find out what you can expect when you're invited to do a selection test and how you can prepare with our free test resources

Selection tests are used by recruiters to test a candidate's aptitude and personality. Applicants for placements and graduate schemes are often asked to complete tests during the application or interview stages.

Selection tests can include:

  • ability tests - assessing your numerical and verbal reasoning, spatial awareness and diagrammatical reasoning
  • personality questionnaires - learning more about you and whether you have the personal qualities required
  • situational judgement tests - exploring how you would behave in particular situations that relate to the role
