Find out about the University of Sussex Pension Savings Scheme (USPSS) and who it is for.

About the pension scheme

The USPSS is the current pension scheme for professional services staff on grades 1-6.

It is provided by Aegon.

You can access and read more about your personal Aegon Retiready policy.

When you are first enrolled on to the Scheme, you pay 4% of your salary while the University contributes 8%.

You can pay a higher percentage if you wish and the University will contribute up to 12%.

The Scheme is designed to be flexible. If you want to change your contribution, email the Pensions Team:

Benefits of the scheme

If you are in the scheme, you:

  • get valuable University pension contributions
  • save income tax on the money you pay into your individual policy
  • benefit from low management charges (which Aegon makes for investing and administering your pension pot) because we have negotiated special terms with Aegon
  • can nominate someone to receive valuable life assurance benefits if you die.

Member guide

As a part of the automatic pensions enrolment process, all new members receive a copy of the Member Guide on joining.

You get this emailed to you as an attachment.
