School workload allocation policies

View the academic workload allocation policies used by each School (or department, where relevant).

Context

A transparent approach to academic workload planning is important for ensuring a fair, equitable and appropriate balance of activities relating to education, research and knowledge exchange, scholarship, administrative duties, leadership and management as well as other areas of academic service.

These policies follow on from the development of a University-wide approach to academic workload allocation, which set out a number of core principles [PDF 100KB] agreed by Senate in November 2022.

The policies will be used from the 2023/24 academic year onwards. They may be reviewed and updated in response to internal and external changes.
