Search cheat sheet

Text version

Increase your results with the Boolean 'OR': Using OR (must be in capital letters) in between your search words finds resources with at least one of those words. For example: teen OR youth OR adolescent.

Reduce your results with double parentheses: Placing a phrase in double quotation marks finds the exact matching phrase or set of words, in matching order. For example: "social psychology" only finds resources where the words "social" and "psychology" appear next to each other.

Incresase your results with truncation / stem searching: Adding an asterisk symbol to the root of a search word will find all words that begin with that root word. For example: behav* finds behaves, behaving, behavior, behaviour.
