How do I fix the "Error virtualizing application" message on computers in Engineering and Informatics?

In some circumstances, when you try to open a program in the Software Hub on the computers in the Chichester or Richmond computing labs, you see a message "Error virtualizing application..."

Chichester computing labs (Informatics)

If you started an undergraduate course in 2016 or later and you have not used Software Hub in the past, you should be able to fix the problem as follows:

  • Go to the Start button on the Windows desktop and click on All programs
  • Click on Fix Software Hub

This should then launch a small program to fix the problem. Wait a few seconds for it to complete and then try again to open the application you want to use.

Richmond and John Clifford West computing labs (Engineering)
