The University of Sussex’s Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts is hosting this year’s The Coast is Queer Festival - Brighton & Hove’s annual festival of LGBTQ+ writing from 15-18 October 2026.

The festival will include four days of lively conversations, panels, workshops, performances and films celebrating some of the best and brightest LGBTQ+ writers, including Shon Faye, Susan Stryker, Thomas Glave, Sarah Waters, Julia Armfield, Kirsty Logan, Juno Dawson, Patrick Gale and many more. 

 We are offering the following prizes to Sussex students:

• Grand prize: 2 x festival passes
• Runners up: 10 x Friday day passes - this year's Friday line up features University of Sussex Student Curators. You can find out more here.
