Building a practical quantum computer with large numbers of qubits will require quantum gates that are robust in the presence of fluctuations in operational parameters. In addition, motional heating of trapped ions will lead to a reduced entangling gate fidelity. Here, we experimentally demonstrate an entangling gate that increases the resilience to fluctuating operational parameters and motional heating. Manuscript published in Physical Review Letters.
