Hello,
Remember your Library and Student Centre are still open during the summer, providing you with resources and support.
For those of you on campus, you can make the most of the summer weather and explore the South Downs. The Sussexsports website has information on the Boundary Walk and other walking and running routes near Falmer.
Read on for this week’s update, including:
- Marking and assessment boycott information

- Where to eat and drink on campus this summer
Marking and assessment boycott information
Yesterday (Wednesday 12 July), postgraduate taught results were released.
If you’re a postgraduate taught student, and you’ve not already done so, please read the email I sent on Monday, it contains important information.
As mentioned previously, final year students who are attending graduation have been sent emails relating to graduation events at the Brighton Centre. Please check your University email account for full details, and see the specific information for finalists on the Student Hub.
We are continuing to update the industrial action page on the Student Hub when there is new information. Please check this page to stay up to date and see answers to frequently asked questions about the impact of the marking and assessment boycott. You can also find information there on how to submit a complaint if you have been impacted by the industrial action.
If you have concerns and need extra guidance or support, the University has services available that provide advice on a range of subjects. You can access these services via the Student Centre.
New Centres of Excellence launch to tackle research
This week we revealed 12 new Centres of Excellence. Their innovative research is driving progress for planet and people, driven by a belief that any challenge is only... #ImpossibleUntilDone.
The 12 Centres were selected through a competitive process, and will have this status for the next five years in order to undertake explorative research.
These are flagship centres of research that are exemplars of best practice, and in many cases world-leading research, that address areas of global importance. Each Centre will conduct highly innovative and potentially transformative research that will drive progress and make an important contribution to the planet and its people.
Check out the Student Hub to read more about our new Centres of Excellence.
Where to eat and drink on campus this summer
A number of campus outlets are closed for the quieter months of the summer vacation while venues like EAT Central will be hosting summer school students, so it may be busy during peak times such as lunchtime.
The £2 meal deal is continuing as part of the University’s cost of living support package for students and staff. You can find the deal at the Botanical Cafe in the Jubilee Building from 26 June.
Elsewhere, IDS Bar and Kitchen and Falmer Bar will be open on weekdays.
Visit the Student Hub for your full guide on where to eat and drink over the summer.
With best wishes,
Kelly
