Hello,
As you might know, across the University of Sussex and Institute of Development Studies, the Sussex Sustainability Research Programme (SSRP) community is helping to tackle sustainability issues for people and planet, whilst advancing the delivery of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Wander through the Student Centre Atrium between now and 14 July and you’ll find an audio-visual exhibition featuring some of the impactful SSRP-funded research from around the world. Part of the University’s Summer of Research, the exhibition includes artwork, photography taken during international fieldwork, insightful podcast recordings, short films and animations, so there is lots to explore if you’re on campus.

Marking and assessment boycott information
Today (29 June), all students due to progress to the next year of study will have received an email from me with further information around results due to be released on 3 July and next steps. Please read this email via your University account or view the message in full on the Student Hub.
Please continue to visit the industrial action page on the Student Hub and read through the answers to frequently-asked questions, which we are keeping updated. This page includes specific information for finalists.
Final-year students will have also received additional email communication relating to the impact of the national boycott and graduation events at the Brighton Centre in July. Please check your University email account for full details.
Reminder: Sign up to ‘Okta’ single sign-on to keep using University software
To improve the University’s IT security, our IT Services teams are making changes to the way we access University IT systems. We need your help to put some of these changes in place and to help keep you and the University protected against online threats.
‘Okta’ Single Sign-On (SSO) is software which ensures you can access University systems and software applications safely and securely. It will mean you only need a single password to sign in to the University system and access all the software applications and tools that you need.
Please read the full update on the Student Hub and sign up to Okta as soon as possible. It should take less than a minute to do.
Your chance to win an iPad Pro with Santander Universities
Did you know our partner Santander Universities is giving away 10 iPad Pro tablets? All students in higher education in the UK can enter, even if you don’t bank with Santander. Enter by 13 July for your chance to win!
These giveaways are the latest in a series of opportunities from Santander Universities designed to enhance your university experience and make sure you have the tools you need to succeed in your studies. Find out more in our recent news story.
PhD researchers awarded for outstanding impact
Four Sussex postgraduate researchers have been recognised for game-changing work in very different fields: blood cancer research, gender equality in industry, computer simulations used in astrophysics, and art interventions for care home residents with memory loss.
Announced during Sussex Doc Fest earlier this month, the £1,000 Adam Weiler Awards recognise researchers who demonstrate the potential to make a lasting, positive impact with their PhD work. The awards are supported by a generous donation to the University in memory of a former student. You can read more about the winners and their research.
With best wishes,
Kelly
