Progression from Foundation Year to the BSc Physics/MPhys course
Students will qualify for entry to MPhys courses if they obtain:
- 120 credits*
- at least 55% overall in the Foundation year (weighted average);
- at least 40% in every module:
Foundation Mathematics A (15 credits)
Foundation Mathematics B (15 credits)
Foundation Mechanics (15 credits)
Properties of Matter (15 credits)
Electricity & Magnetism (15 credits)
Optics, Waves & Modern Physics (15 credits)
FY Lab (30 credits)
Students will qualify for entry to BSc Physics courses if they obtain:
- 120 credits*
- at least 40% overall in the Foundation Year (weighted average);
- at least 40% in every module:
Foundation Mathematics A (15 credits)
Foundation Mathematics B (15 credits)
Foundation Mechanics (15 credits)
Properties of Matter (15 credits)
Electricity & Magnetism (15 credits)
Optics, Waves & Modern Physics (15 credits)
FY Lab (30 credits)
*Students will not qualify for entry to MPhys or BSc Physics courses where credits have been obtained through automatic compensation (35-39%). Students will, however, be offered the opportunity to take resits for which a result of at least 40% will be required to progress.
