Research

Professor Millns's main research interests lie in the areas of European and comparative public law, constitutional law, human rights and feminist legal studies. She has published widely on issues of gender equality in Europe and much of her work offers a critical, feminist perspective on contemporary matters of public law.

She is currently researching into the impact of Brexit for women and sexual minorities and is the co-editor (with Sussex colleagues Nuno Ferreira and Moira Dustin) of a collection on Feminist and Queer Perspectives on Brexit, published by Palgrave in their series on gender and politics (https://www.palgrave.com/gb/book/9783030031213).

In addition to the work on Brexit, Professor Millns is currently carrying out research for a monograph on the gendered nature of the principle of respect for human dignity.
